Beach Wedding FAQs
What if it rains?
The beaches of Maryland & Delaware are usually blessed with abundant sunshine during the wedding season. We will do our best to work with you and the weather. Most summer showers are very brief and clear up quickly. We can change the time, date or location of your ceremony if possible or rent our 10 x 10 covered canopy & umbrellas for light showers. We’ve had ceremonies in condos, beach houses & hotels. Rain or shine, you won’t leave the beach without a ring on your finger.
What is the ideal location for my Beach Wedding?
As near to where you are staying as possible. This will give you access to a mirror bathroom & air condition up until the last possible moment. Our Photographers can even meet you in your room for priceless images of the girls getting ready.
The beaches up and down the coast may vary slightly, but they all offer spectacular photo possibilities with the right equipment & expertise. The time of your wedding is actually more important than the beach you select.
What time should I have my Beach Wedding?
When the lifeguards are off duty. Summer weddings should be before 9 AM or after 5 PM for optimal lighting, cooler temperatures and an intimate setting. Sunrise and sunset are the most popular times. Offseason weddings (November – March) are best in the afternoon.
Do I need a permit?
Assateague Island, the Delaware beaches & parks require a permit from the local municipality. Ocean City is a Free public beach. Professional Photographers, Ministers, Videographers & Rental Agencies & Limos must present a government issued license to work on Assateague.
Are there parking fees?
Bethany , Lewes, Dewey & Rehoboth Beach all have metered parking. Ocean City has metered parking downtown but the rest of the city offers plenty of free parking. Assateague National Seashore charges $15 per vehicle entry fee. Fenwick Island and Cape Henlopen State Parks charge an entry fee.
Where do I get my Marriage License?
Maryland ($35) DE ($100/Non DE Residents $50/DE Resident)
Worcester County Clerk Sussex County Clerk
1 West Market St. 2 The Circle 2nd Floor Room 268
Snow Hill, MD 21863 Georgetown, DE 19947

Maryland license can be picked up as early as six months prior to your wedding up until 2 days prior to your ceremony (Example- you can pick up your license anytime on 11/09/11 for a 11/11/11 ceremony). Either the bride or groom can pick it up in person if they have a photo ID of you both. If it is not your first marriage, you’ll need a decree of divorce or death certificate. You may also be eligible to send for your license by mail.
Delaware license can be picked up 30 days prior to your wedding or up until two days before the wedding if you are a DE resident or four days if you are a non-resident.. You may be eligible to send for your license by mail.
Would you recommend an additional hour of Photography for my beach wedding package?
Definitely! Some of our most memorable images occur well before the wedding- putting on the dress, applying the finishing touches to your makeup, a glass of champagne with the girls while you are waiting for your nails to dry. An extra hour will allow you time to go over to the bay after your beach ceremony and take some additional sunset shots. If you are arriving or departing by Limo, you’ll definitely want time to capture your time on the red carpet! Additional Photography hours are $240 ($192 on weekdays, morning & offseason). |
